Ah, what could be better? Some brews, music, and food out in the middle of town on a nice Saturday afternoon. And a "family" oriented atmosphere at that. Seems like a nice community event. And it does have its good side. But once again, I feel a little let down by the offering.
Each year I would like to see more. More specifically, vendors that go with the event. More food vendors, more people selling brew supplies, ingredients, mugs, and the like. Instead we get people selling hula-hoops and beads. Not that I'm against that, but it seems to be the predominant thing. And while I'm all about Athens and the local stuff, I'd like something new, something special. I can go to the Burrito Buggy anytime, I can see the Royales at Casa at least once a month. Ohio Brew Week's culminating event is like a John Carpenter movie, its good, but it could have been better.
